American writer and business coach, Julien Smith, believes that the world wants people to remain silly because it makes them easier to control. Even if you’re into self-education and knowledge improvement, there are still things that you refuse to believe, although deep inside you realize they might be true.
Bright Side has gathered 10 fundamental life truths that when understood will make your life easier and more pleasant.
1. Most of our memories are false.

The brain plays tricks on us by fabricating and changing our memories. We don’t remember the whole event but instead, we can recall the last memory of it, then we remember the memory of another memory, and so on. Do you remember the telephone game also known as Chinese Whispers? Almost the exact same process happens when you repeat a certain situation from the past in your head.
2. We don’t all have equal circumstances.

Some people’s lives are much harder than others in different parts of the world. Someone who is born in a poor area leaves school early to earn money for food, while someone else is born into wealth as an heir of a big corporation. It is logical to assume that the life of the latter would be more enjoyable. There are exceptions to this rule, but not all that many.
3. No one wants to love a person who doesn’t love themselves.

You’d probably end up growing old alone if you’re wishing and hoping for Prince Charming to come along. However, it’s to your advantage to love and respect yourself. Don’t make other people responsible for your life’s happiness, otherwise, you’ll always be on an emotional roller coaster: going up when someone is by your side and straight down when you’re single. In this case, the “down” ride will occur more often.
4. The world doesn’t owe you anything.

Even if you’re a good-looking, smart, educated person with many great traits of character, it doesn’t mean that life will lay every opportunity in front of you. Successful people know only 2 options: feel sorry for yourself because you deserve so much more, or fight for a place under the sun! This fight will usually be difficult. It’s up to you to choose your way.
5. You have more time than you think.

There are 168 hours in every week — that’s a lot of time! Albert Einstein proved that time isn’t constant, and modern scientists agree with him. Change the thought, “I don’t have time” to “It’s not my priority.” If you don’t play sports and eat junk food, your health isn’t your priority. If you don’t help your spouse with household chores, your relationship isn’t your priority. It’s a harsh truth. What you’re wasting time on says more about you than any psychological test.
6. Your life will never be perfect.

There will never be a “right” time to get married, have a child, change a job, or move to another country. All this waiting for the “right time” is based on your fear of change and leaving your comfort zone. By the way, have you ever had the feeling that the blessed moment had come? Do whatever scares you, otherwise, you’ll be sad about your own life very soon.
7. No one is really too busy — they just don’t care about you.

Your significant other is too busy to reply to your 30th message. An employer is in the middle of something and can’t give you a call back after the interview. Everything is actually much simpler: they don’t want to talk to you. The sooner you stop worrying about people who don’t care about you, the better your life will become.
8. You can’t be perfect for everyone.

It doesn’t matter how kind, good, generous, or noble you are. There are people who would definitely think poorly of you even if you don’t give them any reason to. If your body can cause jealousy among Victoria’s Secret models, it doesn’t mean that you won’t meet people who will judge your imperfections.
9. Life isn’t fair.

People will not always appreciate your work. If you’re a kind and loving person, it doesn’t mean that your spouse won’t abandon you to your own fate. Evil deeds don’t always get punished. Help may not come at the darkest hour. However, it doesn’t mean that life is all bad. Just don’t ask too much from it.
10. The person that is most likely to kill you is you.

Usually, we can’t kill ourselves due to the self-preservation instinct, but we easily destroy ourselves day by day or risk our lives forgetting about the consequences. Bad habits, traffic violations, getting in cars with strangers — all these put our lives at risk. But most of the time we avoid these things as we are reasonably intelligent.
Understanding of all these things can make your life more meaningful and keep you from performing foolish acts. Do you want to add some words of wisdom to our list? Share them with us in the comments.
