Sometimes the meaning of everything around gets lost and we get stuck in life. Some people tend to blame others in this situation, some isolate themselves from their surroundings, and some overcome their obstacles and keep moving ahead. In this article, we are going to tell you which reasons hold you back from moving forward.
Bright Side collected the tiniest but probably the most important factors for you that can negatively affect the process of creating a prosperous future.
9. The illusory dream
We all like to dream. However, some of us tend to overdream and hence stay in our illusions not willing to come back to reality. This results in a person living in their imaginary world, waiting for a miracle, and not making any effort to achieve their goals. And if you don’t do anything and stay in one place, there is a very low probability that you’ll find a suitcase with a million bucks. To improve your situation, leave behind the life you are used to and try to do something that you have never done before.
8. Inability to concentrate on a specific goal
Many of us tend to live according to the following principle — “a couple more minutes on Instagram and I’ll switch to work.” The thing is that our life is full of gadgets that broadcast news from all over the world which it is difficult to ignore. And thanks to these technologies and our addiction, it sometimes becomes impossible for us to concentrate on one task. As a result, we have a lot of unfinished work, a pile of dirty dishes at home, and ourselves — scrolling through the latest world news. In order to be more productive, meet deadlines, and keep the track of world events, use the Pomodoro Technique.
7. Inability to follow through
Have you ever started to do several tasks simultaneously and not finish any of them? We are sure that has happened to most of us at least once in our lives. It relates to sports, Monday diets, and projects that you have started with great enthusiasm and stopped after a week or a month. There is only one reason for this situation — a lack of perseverance and the absence of desired results. In Japan, there is a special word describing this syndrome — ’The 3-day monk.’ The number 3 here symbolizes the average amount of days your intense burst lasts. In order not to be such a ’monk,’ immerse yourself in the work gradually and avoid extremes.
6. Inability to feel responsible for your actions
Not every event happening in life is our fault, but all of them are our responsibility. Blaming other people or obstacles won’t change the situation, but by taking full responsibility for a situation, you can build a better future. The ability to admit your mistakes and correct them is the first and the most vital stage on your way to success. Simply take responsibility and make your ideas and dreams come true.
5. The lack of support from loved ones
One of the main secrets of a person’s success is the support of their loved ones. But sometimes instead of support, we face negativity and misunderstanding from them which makes it difficult to continue smoothly on your chosen way. In this situation, it’s important that you don’t start to throw tantrums or cause conflicts. The best option is to tell your loved ones how much you love them while at the same time explaining how important the things you do are for you, what result you want to get, and how vital their support is.
4. Too much self-analyzing
Self-analyzing leads to you getting into your problem deeper and deeper. As a result, it starts to root in your mind, making you feel sad which may eventually lead to depression. This will definitely not bring you closer to success but, conversely, it will move you away from it. Say ’yes’ to healthy self-analyzing and self-reflective awareness. It’s these that will help you get out of apathy and assess real possibilities.
3. Looking for the guilty
There are 2 types of people in the world — the ones that keep blaming everyone around for their failures and the ones who take responsibility for their own downfalls. Those who like to blame might point a finger at the government, the country they live in, or their parents that didn’t give them enough of everything to become successful. While the second type of people, the ones who managed to become successful, know that success depends only on their efforts, persistence, and goals and that there is no point in blaming others. Surprisingly failures might stimulate them to become even more successful. Remember that there is no one guilty of your failures except you and no one except you can make your future happy and successful.
2. Unreal goals
Your dreams might transform into goals, which you should set correctly. You should have a clear understanding of what resources you have for achieving them, how much time you’ll need, and how real they are. The SMART method can help you greatly when setting and analyzing goals. And even if the goal that you set turns out to be unreal, there is a way out — try to formulate it differently or divide it into sub goals.
1. Previous failures
Each of us has encountered failures. Sometimes you can be trying your best but the result just doesn’t happen. In this case, we have 2 options: to get depressed and keep feeling sorry for ourselves or to analyze the situation, understand the things that you were doing wrong, and try once again. Stephen King can be a bright example of persistence. Despite being turned down 30 times from different editors to publish his first novel Carrie, the author still managed to reach mind-blowing success.
