You should have a clear understanding of what resources you have for achieving them, how much time you’ll need, and how real they are. The SMART method can help you greatly when setting and analyzing goals. And even if the goal that you set turns out to be unreal, there is a way out — try to formulate it differently or divide it into sub goals.
